Teaching food history at the universities in Bergen and Agder and at Akershus University College (food culture courses).

Editorial board member of the journal Food & History.

Cand. philol. (literature), University of Oslo 1968. Studies in Mexico 1971-72.

Worked for NRK, main Norwegian TV and radio channel 1971-2004. Foreign news reporter in Spain, Italy and Portugal 1974-76. Permanent foreign correspondent in Paris 1976-79. Foreign news reporter in Central America, Poland and Iraq 1980-85. Host of arts and letters shows 1986-94. Series on Norwegian food history 1995-96. Mainly documentaries since 1997.

Lectures on Portuguese contemporary history at the University of Oslo 1975.

Author of books on food and history, and of school textbooks.

Awards for journalism on European questions and on food history and nutrition.
